Murcia Bike Hire – Booking Terms and Conditions

Important: These Booking Terms & Conditions govern all bike hires and custom cycling holiday arrangements made with Murcia Bike Hire (MBH). By placing an order on our website you accept these terms. You will also sign our Rental Agreement at delivery; where documents differ, these Booking Terms & Conditions prevail.
1. Definitions
“MBH”, “we”, “us” means Murcia Bike Hire; “you”, “renter”, “client” means the person making the booking; “bike” means any bicycle and accessories supplied by MBH.
2. Booking process & contract
- Bookings are made online and confirmed when we issue an order confirmation. You must be 18+ to contract.
- You accept these Terms at checkout. A Rental Agreement is signed on delivery.
- We reserve the right to decline bookings that cannot be fulfilled (for example, sizing or availability conflicts).
3. Payments
- Hire booking deposit: typically 30% (non-refundable) payable at checkout to secure your dates and bike size(s).
- Balance: due on delivery for hires; for custom cycling holidays the schedule will be stated on your personalised quote.
4. Security deposit pre-authorisation
- A credit-card hold of €250 per bike is requested via the booking reminder email, using a secure link to complete a pre-authorisation.
- The hold is released on satisfactory return of the bike in accordance with the Rental Agreement (bank processing times vary).
- Failure to complete the pre-authorisation before delivery may result in cancellation of the hire.
5. Identification
Valid photo ID (passport or national ID card) must be presented at delivery. The lead booker is responsible for all bikes on the order.
6. Delivery & collection
- Delivery/collection is by appointment within an agreed time window. Service area covers Murcia and Alicante provinces; a delivery surcharge may apply by location.
- Airport handovers are not offered. You (or a nominated adult) must be present to receive and return bikes at your accommodation.
- Setup: we fit your bike to your measurements at handover. A track pump is provided for handover use only.
7. What’s included with each hire
- GPS mount (Garmin/Wahoo), 2 × bottle cages on every bike, saddle bag with 1 × spare tube, 2 × tyre levers, and a hand pump. A track pump is provided for handover use only.
- If the spare tube is used a charge of €5 applies; any unreturned accessory incurs a €10 per item charge.
- Optional extras (pre-book): pedals (Shimano/Look), helmet, MBH bidons, and nutrition.
8. Use & care of equipment
- Road use only. No organised racing, triathlons, or time trials.
- Helmets are mandatory under Spanish law. You are responsible for your own safety and that of your party.
- Store bikes indoors and securely when not in use. Do not leave bikes unattended in public areas.
- Do not pressure-wash. Avoid contamination from saltwater/sand; wipe down after coastal rides.
- You are responsible for loss, theft, or damage beyond fair wear and tear.
9. Mechanical issues during the hire
- Refer to your signed Rental Agreement for how mechanical issues are handled.
- Attendance/recovery is not included in hire prices and, where available, is provided only under the process and charges set out in the Rental Agreement (current call-out fee: €30 per bike).
- Punctures are part of normal riding and are the rider’s responsibility; we supply one spare tube with each bike.
- Any third-party repairs must be pre-authorised by MBH to be eligible for consideration.
10. Loss, theft, damage & accidents
- You must notify MBH immediately. In cases of theft or traffic accident you must report to the Guardia Civil and obtain a crime/incident number.
- Repair or replacement costs (up to the full value of the bike) may be charged against your card following inspection.
- We strongly recommend suitable travel insurance that covers cycle hire, accidental damage, theft and medical costs.
11. Cleaning
- Light road dust is acceptable. If returned heavily soiled (e.g., mud/sand/salt residue), a cleaning surcharge from €15 per bike may apply.
- Where contamination risks corrosion or staining (e.g., saltwater/sand), additional servicing (drivetrain/bearings/brakes) may be charged.
12. Late return & non-return
- If a bike is returned more than 1 hour late, a late fee of €25 per bike applies.
- Beyond 24 hours, additional charges may apply (including daily hire rate and recovery costs). Non-return may be reported as theft.
13. Cancellations & changes (hire)
- Deposit: non-refundable.
- Cancellation charges (calendar days before start): 60–22 days: 50%; 22–15 days: 75%; 14–0 days: 100%.
- Alterations: More than 14 days prior — free (subject to availability). Within 14 days — €20 admin fee; changes must be re-booked within the same calendar year.
14. Custom cycling holidays (quotes on request)
- Holiday bookings are bespoke. Your quote will state deposit, balance schedule, inclusions, and any partner (hotel/transfer) terms that apply.
- Cancellation charges for holidays follow the partner terms specified in your quote, in addition to MBH terms.
15. Liability & force majeure
- Cycling involves risk. You ride at your own risk and must follow local laws and safe practices.
- MBH’s liability is limited to the amount paid for the hire/arrangements, except where liability cannot be limited by law.
- We are not liable for events beyond our control (force majeure) that prevent or delay delivery/collection.
16. Privacy & communication
We process personal data to manage your booking and provide services, in line with our Privacy Policy. We may contact you by email/phone/WhatsApp regarding your booking and related services.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by Spanish law. Jurisdiction: Region of Murcia, Spain.
18. Acceptance
By placing an order you confirm you have read and accept these Booking Terms & Conditions. You will also sign the Rental Agreement on delivery.
