La Torre Golf Resort – GPX Route 1
Ride Overview
This punch-packing loop is a favourite with Murcia Bike Hire guests staying at La Torre Golf Resort. Over 78 scenic kilometres you’ll scale the wooded shoulders of the Sierra de Altaona, glide across fertile plains dotted with citrus orchards, and roll through quintessential Murcian villages such as Sucina and La Tercia. Two notable climbs—both peaking near 400 m—serve up panoramic views towards the Segura valley and, on a clear day, the sparkling Mar Menorlagoon. Smooth, low-traffic tarmac throughout makes this a confidence-building ride for cyclists keen to mix tempo efforts with postcard-worthy scenery.

What to Expect
Rolling out of La Torre’s palm-lined boulevards, you’ll warm up on quiet campo lanes scented with orange blossom before the road tilts into the first real test: the steady Alto de Garruchal. Averaging 4 %, its shady switchbacks offer an honest but achievable climb on fresh legs and reward you with sweeping vistas once you crest the ridge.
A flowing descent drops you onto the fertile El Palmar plain where freshly resurfaced asphalt invites a spell on the drops. Turning south, the terrain becomes gently undulating as you thread past the white-washed houses of La Tercia and café-lined plaza of Sucina—ideal for a mid-ride tostada-and-cortado stop.
Save a little in reserve for the route’s sting: the shorter yet punchier Collado Altaona ramps, nudging 9 % in places. From the summit, it’s an exhilarating, often tail-wind-assisted run-in back to La Torre where a poolside recovery drink or chilled cerveza awaits.
