Torrevieja – GPX Route 4

Ride Overview

Our longest Torrevieja‑based circuit is a true county‑hopper: tracing the salt‑lake shoreline north before threading citrus groves, scaling the limestone flanks of the Sierra de Crevillent and looping through the historic market town of Aspe. The 128 km outing delivers one sustained mid‑ride climb, panoramic ridge‑top vistas, and a finale of fast plains that slingshot you back to the coast. Expect silky Spanish tarmac, a modest 988 m of elevation, and plenty of café options to keep you fuelled for the big day out.

Rides Statistics

  • Distance: 127.76 km

  • Elevation Gain: 988 m

  • Difficulty: Challenging

  • Estimated Time: 5 – 7 hours

  • Start/Finish: Torrevieja seafront (Playa de la Mata)

What to Expect Along the Ride

  • Km 0 – 30 | Coastal & Campo Warm‑up – Flat, wind‑brushed lanes skirt Torrevieja’s famous pink lagoons and the fertile Vega Baja farmland.

  • Km 30 – 55 | Rolling Approach to Crevillent – Gentle ramps lead towards the craggy Sierra de Crevillent; orange and lemon orchards perfume the air.

  • Km 55 – 70 | Main Climb & Highlands Plateau – A 12 km, steady 3–5 % ascent tops out near 550 m. Enjoy sweeping views across the Vinalopó valley before descending into Aspe.

  • Km 70 – 95 | Aspe to Elche Orchards – Undulating terrain and perfectly surfaced CV‑873 back‑roads make for tempo riding through vineyards and palm groves.

  • Km 95 – 128 | Fast Return via San Fulgencio – A subtle tailwind‑favoured drag carries you past El Hondo Natural Park and back into Torrevieja for an espresso‑worthy finish on the paseo marítimo.

Key Highlights

  • Sierra de Crevillent scenic climb with photo‑worthy miradores at 550 m.

  • Historic Aspe – refill bottles and sample a tostada in the Plaza Mayor.

  • El Hondo wetlands & pink salt‑lakes glimpsed on the run‑in.

  • Endless citrus and pomegranate orchards that fragrance the route in spring.

  • Smooth, low‑traffic CV‑865 & CV‑873 roads – a road‑cyclist’s dream surface.

Rider Tips

  • Our bikes come with compact 50/34 T gearing – perfect for the steady climb.

  • Carry two bottles; water stops in Crevillent (km 55) & Aspe (km 70).

  • Easterly sea breezes often give a tailwind home – but watch crosswinds on exposed sections.

  • 28 mm tyres recommended for maximum comfort on occasional rough shoulders.

  • Early cafés: Bar‑Restaurante El Parque (km 32, San Isidro) & Cafetería Central (km 70, Aspe).
