Arrival with optional ride to Portman and La Union
Arriving at Alicante or Murcia International airport where we will be waiting to take you to your hotel by private transfer.
On your arrival we will begin by setting up your carbon road bike in preparation for the “Murcia Carbon Road Weekender”. On completion of the bike setup you have the option to relax and explore your new surrounding on foot or maybe take the opportunity to jump on your bike and head out around the Mar Menor bay. This is a great way to start your carbon road weekender and get acclimatised to the area, check the bike and make any final adjustments.
Cartagena, Alto de el Cedacero and Alto de la Cuesta
Having enjoyed you first evening in Los Alcazares, its time to get those legs spinning to the beautiful port of Cartagena and its roman heritage. From here we take a route used in the Vuelta a Espana 2018 Day 6 towards Mazarron known as Alto de El Cedacero.
This route also gives the opportunity to enjoy a local tapas lunch and visit the Torre de Santa Elena in the La Azohia bay. Then its time to continue back to Los Alcazares via another local climb “Alto de la Cuesta” with a summit at 352m.
Parque Regional de Sierra Espuña
The only way is up today as we enter the Sierra Espuna National Park to climb the collado Bermejo. Taking in the opportunities to stop at the viewing points is optional as we work our way to the 1550m summit.
Look out for local legends such as Alejandro Valverde and Luis Leon Sanchez who use this route for training.
Collado de los Ginovinos & Embalse de la Pedrera
For your final ride will take you from Los Alcazares and head out into the agricultural area through the orange groves to the Collado de los Ginovinos & Embalse de la Pedrera.
Before you head back to the hotel to pack for departure its always great to finish a weekender at a beach bar for a well earned cerveza or two!
